The Big Hack is an international code development marathon in which developers, hackers, makers, IoT experts and tech enthusiasts gathers together in teams over a given time and, with the help of expert mentors, develop prototypes for hardware and software projects.

The Big Hack is a moment for sharing ideas and creativity and for enhancing skills in an innovative and fun way, whilst delivering solutions to real challenges.

The Big Hack is meant for anyone interested in tech applied to Energy, Mobile, IoT, Cyber Security, Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, Electronics, AI, Sustainability and in using it to deliver unusual, innovative solutions to the given challenges.

The challenges will be promoted by industry leading companies, partners of The Big Hack.

Awards and rewards will be available for winners of each challenge.

The Big Hack is promoted by Campania Administrative Region and is organised by Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition (by appointment of the Rome Chamber of Commerce) and Sviluppo Campania, in collaboration with Apple Developer European Academy @ University of Naples Federico II.


The Big Hack 2022, now at the sixth edition, will run from 24th to 27th June in a digital format.

Participants will be able to join in from remote; The Big Hack will take place on a digital platform.
